Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is the largest public university in Malaysia. Its main campus is located in Shah Alam, Selangor. It was established in 1956 as the Rural & Industrial Development Authority (RIDA) Training Centre with its main objectives of rebuilding the rural society and improving their economy. In 1965, it became known as MARA College where MARA stands for Majlis Amanah Rakyat or the Council of Trust for the Indigenous People. Then It was officially renamed as Institut Teknologi MARA on 14 October, 1967 before it became known as Universiti Teknologi MARA on 26 August, 1999.

The university is currently has over 160,000 students, 17,000 staff and offering more than 500 programmes. It has 35 campuses all over the country. Academic faculties are divided into three clusters: 1) Science and Technology; 2) Social Science & Humanities; and 3) Business and Management. Faculties include: Science and Technology cluster: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, Applied Sciences, Computer & Mathematical Sciences, Architecture, Planning & Surveying, Sports Science & Recreation, and Plantation & Agrotechnology. Social Science & Humanities cluster: Law, Administrative Science & Policy Studies, Art & Design, Film, Theater & Animation, Music, Education, Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies and Academy of Language Studies. Business & Management cluster: Accountancy, Business & Management, Hotel & Tourism Management, Information Management and Arshad Ayub Graduate Businees School (AAGBS).
