The National University of Malaysia also known as Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was established on May 18, 1970 and has a strong history rooted in Malay nationalism. UKM has adopted a more pragmatic stance now of accommodating the English Language to acquire a competitive edge globally whilst still remaining rooted in our local language and cultures. The University has 15 faculties and 12 research institutes offering a wide variety of academic programmes both in arts and sciences. UKM was ranked 159 in 2023 QS World University Rankings.
