Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) is a leading private university in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, under the Muhammadiyah organization. It was first established in 1960 as a Muhammadiyah College of Teacher Training and Education and then transformed into a university in 1994. Located in a Special Region of Yogyakarta, a well-known city of education and culture, UAD provides students with both academic excellence and a vibrant cultural experience.
Accredited EXCELLENT by Indonesia’s National Accreditation Board for Higher Education since 2018, the highest level of accreditation, UAD also holds international accreditation from AQAS, a European interntioanl accreditation agency. UAD offers 36 bachelor’s, 16 master’s, 4 doctoral, 4 profession, and 1 vocational program. The university is known for its strong academic tradition, outstanding research, and student support services.
With 731 faculty members, 430 administrative staff, and 25,384 students (as of 2024), UAD fosters a dynamic learning environment. Over 200 international students join UAD for short- and long-term programs, including Indonesian language and cultural studies, joint degrees, one-year or one semester credit transfer programs, and exchange initiatives like SEA-Teacher, SEA-TVET (SEAMEO), and international community service programs.
UAD actively engages in global collaborations, receiving grants from Erasmus+ (International Credit Mobility & Capacity Building), DAAD (National Multiplication Training & DIES Management of Internationalization), and the British Council (Going Global Partnership). Through its academic programs and community engagement, UAD equips students with invaluable insights into Indonesian culture and society while fostering global perspectives.
