The Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) is the leading institution of higher learning in Northern Philippines. Founded in 1978, MMSU takes pride in being the 1st Philippine SUC to be rated in the QS Stars Rating System, garnering three stars in 2019 and four stars in 2024. It is ranked 601st – 800th in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Ranking, 107th in the 2025 World’s Universities with Real Innovations, 253rd in the 2024 UIGreenMetric World University Ranking, classified as a Level IV University under the State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Levelling scheme, an AUN-QA Associate member, and certified to conform to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. MMSU has defined itself through excellence in its core functions: instruction, research, extension, and resource generation. Over the years, the university has been consistently listed by the Professional Regulation Commission as the top-performing school in teacher education, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, accountancy, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, fisheries, medicine, and law, with the outstanding board examination performance of graduates, many landing as topnotchers. At present, MMSU offers 66 degree programs across its 14 colleges. It is a National University of Agriculture and Fisheries in the Philippines and has been recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence in teacher education and a Center of Development in agriculture, biology, forestry, and information technology. MMSU has more than 120 functional partnerships with international organizations across 15 countries and has sent our personnel and students to more than 30 countries.
